Taking place toward the end of November, this is not generally regarded as a 'trade' show. Nevertheless, it is an enormously popular and well attended event which retains that sense of excitement now largely missing from other exhibitions. Well worth a visit.

NIGHTMARE IN THE OLIVE GROVES!

It just gets worse: after nearly twelve months of virtual drought conditions Spain's predicted olive oil production for the coming year might just be sufficient to fill my kitchen sink. And in the olive oil world, if Spain sneezes the rest of the global market looks for the accident and emergency department. What with panic buying, hoarding and possible panic selling this is probably not the time to go 'long' with your buying. Do the lotto instead, it's more predictable.

PONTHIER VACUUM-PACKED CHESTNUTS

You go ten months of the year without selling so much as a packet of vac-pac chestnuts and then come the end of October and suddenly everybody and their granny wants 'em. So, once again Centaur Foods will be stocking industrial quantities of this hugely popular seasonal ingredient, courtesy of Ponthier SA. Remember, you will sell a lot of these chestnuts and, all being well, you will make a reasonable profit doing so.
